Bad Relationships

Can bad relationships be turned around? That's hard to say because many things can contribute to a bad relationship. This is the fourth in a series of relationship articles, dealing in a wide variety of problems and concerns. You have to find out what is making your relationship bad. Most times its a combination of things. Lets first look at the bad relationship that should never be considered fixable.

You should never try to make a relationship work if there is physical abuse. NEVER! This is something that I feel very strong about. My mother was in this type of marriage with my father, and only took the abuse because of her religious belief of marriage. If drinking or drugs are the problem, it is possible to turn this type of bad relationship around, but the person that does the abuse has to really want to get the help they need, and follow through.

There are certain situations that can be fixed very fast, but remember that any problem has to be worked on by both partners, for both partners. There are 2 that top the list of very fast fixes. Money problems, and arguing over kids. These are the problems that can cause a very bad relationship, and there are times you don't even know it. If both want to figure out how to fix a bad relationship, that is the best sign that the possibility is there.

My biggest problem was when my kids were very young. My wife had her favorite saying when they did something wrong when I was at work. I know you heard this one, "wait till your father gets home". Boy would I hear all the stuff that happened as soon as I walked in the door. What I would do is absolutely nothing. I told my wife that if I punished them for something they did against her, she would never be able to earn their respect, and they would never do as told when I wasn't there. Plus, they were beginning to fear me. That small problem was solved in just 1 day.

Now, if money problems are causing a bad relationship, that could be because of many reasons. With all the problems we all have today, if money is the problem because of losing your job, its not your fault. This happened to me AND my wife, losing our jobs a year ago. Yes, money is an issue, but its by no fault of our own. You just have to deal with it TOGETHER, the best you can.
